Drops-Le Col supported by Tempur is delighted to announce that Eider Merino will join the team for the 2022 season.
Merino, who hails from the Basque country has been professional since 2013. She spent five seasons with the Lointek team, which is now known as Sopela before moving to Movistar Team for three seasons.
In 2021, Eider moved to a new challenge with AR Monex. Her best results this year feature two two ten finishes in the Spanish National Championships and GP Ciudad de Eibar. She also finished just outside the top ten at Giro d’Italia Donne.
Eider Merino commented “Drops have always been a team that I have admired, because of the way they work and the family atmosphere, which is really important to me. I’m excited to be part of that family next season.
This season has been a hard year for me psychologically and I was close to calling an end to my career before contact with Tom came. From the point they have shown me trust and that they believe in me. So I can only thank them and show everything I received on the road when racing begins. I can’t wait for the new year to arrive.”
Team Manager, Tom Varney added “Eider has proven herself as one of the best pure climbers in the women’s peloton and we’re pleased to welcome her to our team. We have a good track record of developing riders of all ages and we’re hoping we can have a positive influence on Eider and that she feels happy on the bike and thrives on the bike once again.”
