Babette van der Wolf takes the team’s best result so far

The third stage of the race saw the peloton race 147km between Collonges-la-Rouge and Montignac-Lascaux, with 5 categorised climbs for good measure. It had been earmarked as a sprint stage pre-race and that’s how it turned out even if the catch of a solo break wasn’t made until the final 150 metres.

The youngest rider of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes and Lifeplus-Wahoo rider, Babette van der Wolf sprinted to 14th place. A great result for the team on a tough stage across the Dordogne region. For the young Dutch rider, aged just 19 years old, the 14th place here matches her best UCI stage result of the season and this time on the highest stage.

The main goal of the day was to keep Ella Wyllie safe and not lose time in the youth jersey classification. With that secured, the team gave the nod for Babette to sprint after safely getting Ella Wyllie to the finish in the main peloton. Wyllie remains 2nd in the white jersey race at 1’21” behind the leader.
