Tough week in Benelux for Baloise Ladies Tour

As a lead-up to the Tour de France Femmes, the weekend of the 15th and 16th July saw five Lifeplus Wahoo riders head to Benelux to race the Baloise Ladies Tour.

A tough attritional week of racing that saw many teams reduced to a couple of riders, which also saw Lifeplus-Wahoo affected. On paper, the 5-day stage race featuring flat sprint stages, a prologue and a time trial looked like it would suit the riders in green. However, each stage featured a crash late on with the pace at its highest.

The crashes would affect Margaux Vigie & April Tacey (Stage 2) and Kaja Rysz (Stage 3) leaving just 2 finishers from Lifeplus-Wahoo. April Tacey finished 48th and Typhaine Laurance 66th in the general classification.

The high points for the team this week though were strong finishes from Kaja on Stages 1 and 2. The Pole finished 11th and then 8th to take the best individual results of the week for Lifeplus-Wahoo. April Tacey also sprinted to 20th place on the final stage in Deinze.

The Baloise Ladies Tour also saw the introduction of the new colours on the team’s bikes, ready in time for the Tour de France Femmes, the Ribble frames are now painted in the team’s Evergreen, Radish Blossoms and Clear Skies coloured branding.

The next race for the team will be the Tour de France Femmes, starting 23rd July.
