American Franz, signs with Lifeplus-Wahoo

Lifeplus-Wahoo are pleased to announce the signature of 28-year-old American Heidi Franz.

Franz will enter her seventh season a professional with our team after a tumultuous 2023 season which saw her sign with three different teams, at no fault of her own.

This time last year Franz was due to race for a new French outfit B&B Hotels, which ended before it got going. Heidi was one of the lucky ones to find a new team, she signed for the infamous ZAAF team and got her season underway.

Unfortunately the ZAAF team closed down at the end of March which left her season up the the air. Having found a home with DNA Pro Cycling and a spot for some races with her USA National Team, Franz bounced back picking up some remarkable results in Festival Elsy Jacobs amongst other races.

“It was Heidi’s remarkable personal attributes that really drew her to our team. Bouncing back from adversity is something that the team has had to do during it’s eight season history but to see Heidi bounce back twice in five months and still come away with solid results - it’s been great to see. Her resilience is something I admire.

Aside from that, her form this season has been the best of her career, a career that has shown glimpses of what she can do. We have high hopes that within our structure we can help develop Heidi into a solid and consistent rider. I’m very excited to have her in our team.” Team Manager, Tom Varney commented.

“Lifeplus-Wahoo has always given riders a unique way to develop and grow at the highest level of the sport, in a supportive and fun environment. This team always puts together an amazing calendar, with really intentional goals and opportunities for each rider. Though I've been racing for a number of years now, I still have so much to learn and room to develop. I am most excited to be able to focus and prepare for specific races for the first time. I think this is the perfect team to do that with.

In terms of my performance, I am an all-arounder with a sneaky kick, and a savvy card to play in punchy courses. My favourite part about bike racing is the time developing cohesion between teammates and putting it to the test in the races over the course of a season. Nothing beats celebrating with your team when you've put everything together for a goal!

I simply can't wait to be part of this team in 2024”. Franz added.
