Two more years of Tata!
Drops-Le Col supported by Tempur is delighted to announce that Maria ‘Tata’ Martins has extended her contract for two more years.
Tata has had an exceptional season to date, displaying her talent and commitment to the sport, leaving us all incredibly excited for the future. Tata started the year strongly with the team’s first podium at the Ronde de Mouscron before winning the Portuguese National Championships.
Thanks to her infectious personality and laughter, Tata has cemented herself within the team, alongside her on-bike prowess and powerful sprint finishes. This summer Tata competed for Portugal at the Tokyo Olympics in the Omnium, making the final and finishing in 7th position.
More recently Tata showed her strength on the track in the European u23 Championships where she took home the silver medal in the Elimination race and scratch race and won gold in the Omnium.
Team Manager, Tom Varney commented “I’m very happy to have Tata continue with the team for the next two seasons. We’re proud of the progress she has made this year and we’re excited for what’s to come, the focus will be in the sprint finishes both in the lead out and with the final sprint but also in the classics races.”
Tata said “Since I join this Team I’ve grown so much as a cyclist but especially as a person! I’m really grateful for the opportunity and trust the Team have in me.”
“There’s an amazing environment inside the Team which make this Team so special. I have 100% confidence in this project and can’t wait to #ColourTheRoad with the team in the next seasons.”
Tata will debut her new Portuguese National Champion kit later this week in Giro Toscana. Keep your eyes peeled for that.
